墨尔本小众游|Williamstown,一个让人想私藏的安静角落

Melbourne Off-the-Beaten-Path | Williamstown: A Quiet Corner You'll Want to Keep to Yourself

Whenever friends ask me for a beautiful, hassle-free place near Melbourne, Williamstown always comes to mind.
It's only 30 minutes from the City, yet it feels like a completely different pace.

Orange Soda-flavored Sunset
Go to Williamstown Beach or the pier in the evening and find a bench to sit on. The sea slowly turns a warm orange, the silhouettes of sailboats gently sway, and the distant CBD high-rises glow on the horizon. This is the most gentle sunset I've ever seen in Melbourne.

Cinematic Feel of the Old Port
Walking around Gem Pier feels like being in a painting. Vintage lighthouses, wooden piers, circling seagulls – you don't need to try hard to find a good angle; every shot looks great.

Old Times by the Sea
This is one of Victoria's earliest settlements. The century-old botanic garden is perfect for a stroll, and the WWII warship HMAS Castlemaine is still docked at the port. Old streets and old houses, every corner exudes a sense of history.

How to get there?
Fastest: Take the Williamstown line train from Flinders, 30 minutes direct.
Most comfortable: In summer, take a ferry from Southbank and enjoy the sea view all the way.
Driving: Cross the West Gate Bridge, and you'll be there in half an hour.

If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy the sea, this is just right.
